Počátky kariéry a karting

He began on short ovals in USAC Quarter Midgets just prior to turning 8, where he earned two championships before moving to karting & road course racing at 11, which included 2nd & 3rd place championship finishes.

Winning the prestigious Team USA Scholarship meant an end to the F1600 season in favor of 3 major events in England with Low Dempsey Racing, which included a podium in his heat in the Formula Ford Festival, 10th in the Final (out of 50 entered), 4th in a heat in the Walter Hayes Trophy, & reaching the Grand Final (out of 103 entries) before being collected in a crash.
Road to Indy / USF: USF2000 a postup do USF Pro 2000

He had the fastest lap in one race and won the Tilton Hard Charger Award for most positions gained in 2 races.

The season ended early with only 13 of 18 rounds completed after being collected in an extensive crash.
